What Is A Hyaluronic Acid Injection, And How Does It Help?
You may have already tried exercises, whether they have been found online or given by a physiotherapist in a hospital, but these exercises have been largely ineffective, and you still lack both confidence and the ability to take part in your normal daily tasks.
Things like using stairs, walking the dog, playing golf, and entertaining the children or grandchildren have become monumental challenges that pain limits you from enjoying.
You might have been told that the next step at this stage is surgery, but Raj is here to tell you that surgery is not your only option, you just haven’t had the correct treatment yet.
What Raj can offer is first a detailed evaluation, where you can explain your problem and be truly listened to by someone who is passionate about your recovery. Raj then will explain the options available, which can involve physiotherapy, but with the hyaluronic acid injection, also known as a gel or supplement injection.
The hyaluronic acid injection is extremely beneficial for those dealing with arthritis and helps people return to completing their daily tasks with ease. Exercises, walking, cycling and playing sports that you might have been sidelined from can be restarted thanks to the hyaluronic acid injection, which will prevent you from suffering from arthritic impairment.
It is important to note that hyaluronic acid is not a drug: it’s a supplement. It is the liquid form of cartilage supplement. It lines the cartilage, providing a smoother nature, and therefore enhancing the joint fluid.
Every moving joint has a joint fluid, and this injection enhances the joint fluid and makes movement much more effortless, restoring function that was previously limited because the hyaluronic acid injection is not a drug, it doesn’t have any side effects.
Using this injection, Raj has helped thousands of people with arthritis get back to doing what they love, and Raj believes that the hyaluronic acid injection is changing the way that we treat arthritis.
And the great news? You don’t need to wait for a doctor’s referral in order to get your hyaluronic acid injection. Raj Gandhi is an Independent Physiotherapist Prescriber, which means he can offer injection therapies such as hyaluronic acid injections without the need for a doctor’s referral.

One particularly notable success story regarding the hyaluronic acid injection involved a lady in her early 70s, who came to Raj with a severe ankle problem that was preventing her from walking for as little as five minutes in one stretch. This was causing frustration because one of her favourite hobbies was hiking and walking long distances.
She told Raj that she had been having this issue for 14 years ever since she’d had a break in her ankle. She has been advised by her doctor to freeze her ankle, which was not an option for her as she did not want to restrict her joint even more. While freezing a joint does take the pain away, it also inhibits the movement of the joint.
Raj gave her the option of a hyaluronic acid injection which could start to line up the cartilage and eventually help to improve the joint function. This injection, along with targeted physiotherapy could help her to reach maximum function.
She decided to go ahead with the supplement injection, which usually lasts for a year. Because it is not a drug, you can have it on a regular basis.
After having one injection, followed by four or five sessions of physiotherapy which involved manipulating and mobilising the joints, and engaging in personalised exercises, it has now been three years since her initial injection and she has shown tremendous improvement.
With three injections on a yearly basis, she can now take part in three and a half to four hours of hiking every time without having to think about her ankle. The idea of surgery has completely left her mind.
After 14 years of suffering and being told nothing else could be done, she was able to fully recover and regain function thanks to Raj’s expertise in physiotherapy and injection therapy, as well as the hyaluronic supplement injection.
